Pre Remarriage Counseling

When you have been married before (or if you have lived with another person), you bring many additional issues to your new marriage.  These issues can be overwhelming.  There are ex-partners, your fiances' children, your children, spousal support payments, child support payments, visitation schedules, etc.  In addition, even if you have none of these, time is still needed to recover from your other failed relationship.  Anger, grief, sadness, loss of hope, forgiveness, and guilt must be dealt with before moving on to your next relationship.

If you are not prepared for the challenges related to remarriage, you have a higher risk of getting divorced again, especially if there are teenagers in the mix.  Your children's acceptance of your new partner plays a significant role in the success or failure of this new relationship. Remember, they are one of the victims of your divorce.  They usually don't have any vote or say in the matter.  It will take time for them to be able to process their feelings so that they are ready for a new step-parent to enter their lives. We are here to help you and your fiance' prepare for these challenges and help you create a loving place where all of you can grow and thrive.  You don't want to enter a new marriage without the tools to be successful.
